Pipe Organ
The pipe organ project was created for the Midwinter Magic Festival in San Francisco. This event invites artist to create interactive experiences for people to discover on the longest night of the year.
I decided to create a pipe organ built into a newspaper dispenser box, that allowed people to explore harmony and dissonance through flipping switches and activating pipes.
The Air chest was constructed out of birch plywood and powered by an antique and crank forge blower. The electronics were simple and included a a bunch of toggle switches and solenoids to open and close the air valves.
The pipes were sourced from a church in Sacramento, they are 1964 Swane and Kates Pipes made in Germany.
